Bartender to the rescue’s End of the year networking event

Dommie mommie end of the year networking event

On December 28th, Philly entrepreneur and bartender Dommie Mommie hosted a networking event for entrepreneurs across the city. The event experienced a great turnout with 8 local entrepreneurs, in addition to Dommie, all with different business types coming to set up shop. They all networked despite the fact that none of them were familiar with one other. The event was beneficial for all of the entrepreneurs involved. They all were able to sell merchandise, meet new people, and gain exposure, which was Dommie’s reason for this event. I interviewed Dommie and asked what made her want to throw this event. She stated that she wanted to attract more attention to her bartending school and help others while doing so. She also wanted to meet new people and network with business owners she didn’t know. The purpose is similar to my magazine’s purpose. Her intentions were for every entrepreneur at this event to gain exposure and clientele. She was quite successful. Just because you have a bigger fan base or more clientele doesn’t mean you have the same clients as another entrepreneur. Networking is a fair exchange, you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.

I also sat down and talked with @bundelsbythepound, one of the entrepreneurs and an extremely talented custom wig maker. I asked her why she believed it was important to network. She stated it helps build your brand and get your name out there to a wider variety of people. It also allows you to have a personal interaction with current and future customers so that they can get to know you on a personal level.

The other businesses that attended this helpful event included @scentedshadows, locally hand-poured scented candles by Teauntay Dukes. If you like good smelling candles, I highly recommend.

@Fait_maison_steamstress sells natural female products to help support the natural feminine cycle and more.

@shopbaddbehavior is a very stylish women’s clothing boutique with all sorts of different styles. If you’re looking for a cute outfit for dinner, a party, or a job interview, they’ve got you covered.

@applehead_creations sells a variety of cute accessories such as glasses, bags, jewelry, hand-made waist beads, anklets and so much more.

@stuffdbyjannahjewelz is a chef whose food is out of this world, if I might say so myself.

@_sweetascanbre, an extremely tasty pastry boutique caters events, makes custom birthday cakes and cupcakes and more. They are highly recommended.

@lashoutbykeys sells beautiful, individual, 100% mink lashes that are very soft and also reusable.

Each of these women came together today to network. A lot of people feel that if they try to network they’ll be considered “joe”, or trying to get clout off of someone else’s name. Some people don’t network because of their fear of rejection, not realizing that the only thing that beats a failure is a try.

@dommie_mommie, the host of the event, owns a bartending school called bartender to the rescue located 2519 Germantown Ave. She has a 2-day course that’ll teach you more than you need to know and is well worth the money. On top of teaching you all of the ins and outs of being a bartender, she also goes out of her way to help you find work after you finish her course.

This is Dommie’s first time hosting a networking event and it won’t be the last. The event had a phenomenal turnout. The vibes were great as people networked and ate. They listened to music, danced, and enjoyed their time together. It doesn’t hurt that they made money while doing so. Thank you @dommie_mommie for having @phillystreetmagazine there. I enjoyed my time and I can’t wait until the next event.
